8 days safari renting a roof tent car to travel in Tanzania

8 days self drive Safari in Tanzania

Day01: We assume you will arrive at our office at 8:30am in time to go through the vehicle handover procedure.  Afternoon drive to Mto wa Mbu.  Overnight camping at Migombani Campsite.  Please arrange to pay campsite fees direct

Day02: Drive to Serengeti National Park via NCA. Overnight camping at a Public Campsite in Seronera. Park fees and campsite fees to be paid direct by guests.

Day03: A full day in Central Serengeti.  Overnight camping at a Public Campsite in Seronera. Park fees and campsite fees to be paid direct by guests

Day04: Afternoon, drive to Ngorongoro.  Overnight camping at Simba Public Campsite.

Day05: Morning descend to the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater.  Spend the day on game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater.  Afternoon drive to Mto wa Mbu.  Overnight camping at Migombani Campsite.  Please arrange to pay campsite fees direct

Day06: Morning drive to Tarangire National Park.  Overnight at a Public Campsite in Tarangire National Park. Park fees and campsite fees to be paid direct by guests

Day07:  A full day in Tarangire National Park. Overnight at a Public Campsite in Tarangire National Park. Park fees and campsite fees to be paid direct by guests.

Day08: Return to Arusha.  Fill up on fuel, return vehicle, give us feedback on how your safari went and make the final payment.  End of arrangements

The general requirements to be able to rent one of our vehicles on self drive basis include:

-The driver should be 25yrs or above.
-Hand over of Self drive car is in Arusha from ,The driver should be ready to allocate 3 to 4 hours of his/her time to go through a thorough vehicle handover procedure. This usually begins at around 8:30am in the morning at our office here in Arusha.
-The driver should have a valid International Driver’s permit along with the driver’s license issued from his/her home country.
-There should be 2 people traveling, If you are alone you will have to take a Driver Guide .
-We need to know your full Itinerary (i.e. at the time you will be travelling in our vehicle).
-In Order to book the Land Rover we will need a payment in advance .
-We do not permit driving at night as it is too dangerous .
-If you like to stay at lodges, please let us know so that we may check availability and send you a quote accordingly.  We do not encourage our guests to book lodges directly since it happens that bookings sometimes confirmed do not reflect actual vacancies available.And this leads to complications with the Park rangers.

-The vehicle needs to be returned here at our office in Arusha.or any Aggreed on point

Our rates are as follows for self drive Land Rover Defenders
Vehicle is supplied with some Fuel of fuel and needs to be returned with full tank.
Please note in Order to book the Self drive car we will need a payment of 300 USD per day in Advance,Additional Insurance (i.e. non optional) cover to include all except for tyres.  USD 14.16 per day  for up to  7 days.  8 Days or more we charge a flat rate of $ 118.00.  For Camping equipment we charge   USD 8,00 per person per day, Flying Doctor Temporary Membership: USD 5.00 per person valid for 1 month ,we will Organise this for you .

It is clear that this experience of self-drive safaris in Tanzania is not for all, and we therefore try and make this clear to Clients considering this that if they are not ready for some difficulty or experienced enough to drive on these roads that Clients should instead consider going with a Driver/Guide.
We want it to be made very clear to all clients that we do not pay compensation for ‘lost’ time on their self-drive safaris so before you confirm the self drive safari with us, you do not get the wrong perception. If Clients don’t want to take on this responsibility then we would advise to do a safari with our driver/guide so as to reduce this risk.
